At present, the types of coatings used for color coated steel plate include polyester coatings/fluorocarbon coatings/silicon modified coatings/high weathering coatings/acrylic coatings/polyurethane coatings/plastisol coatings and so on.
First, polyester coatings have good adhesion to the material, color coated steel plate is easy to process and molding, low price, more products, color choice. Direct exposure in the general environment, anti-corrosion life can be up to 7-8 years. However, in industrial environments or heavily polluted areas, its service life will be relatively shortened. However, the UV resistance and film crushing resistance of polyester coatings are not ideal. Therefore, the use of PE coatings still needs to be limited. It is usually used in areas with less air pollution or for products that require multiple molding and processing.
Second, since polyester contains reactive groups -OH/-COOH, it reacts easily with other macromolecules and polymers. In order to improve the light resistance and crushability of PE, the denaturation reaction is carried out by using silicone resin with excellent color retention and heat resistance, and the denaturation rate with PE can be between 5% and 50%.SMP provides better durability of steel plate, and its corrosion protection life can be up to 10-12 years. Of course, its price is also higher than PE, but due to the adhesion of silicone resin to the material and the processing of molding is not ideal, SMP color coated steel is not suitable for the need for multiple molding and processing occasions, most of which are used for building roofs and exterior walls.
Third, high weatherability polyester coating is superior to ordinary silicone modified polyester coating, outdoor weatherability up to 15 years. In the process of synthesizing high weatherability polyester resin, the monomer containing cyclohexane structure is used to achieve a balance of resin flexibility, weatherability and cost. Aromatic polyols and polyacids are used to reduce the resin's absorption of UV rays and to achieve high weatherability of the coating. UV absorbers and space-blocking amines (HALS) are added to coating formulations to improve the weatherability of the paint film.
Fourth, plastisols have good water and chemical resistance. It is generally a high solid content coating with a coating thickness of 100-300μM, which can provide a smooth PVC coating or a light embossing treatment as an embossing coating; since PVC coating is a thermoplastic resin with a high film thickness, it can provide good protection for steel plates. However, the heat resistance of PVC is poor.
Fifth, due to the strong bonding energy between PVDF chemical bonds, the coating has good corrosion resistance and color retention. It is a more advanced product in Baosteel's color steel coil coating for construction, with large molecular weight and direct bonding structure. Therefore, in addition to chemical resistance, its mechanical properties, UV resistance and heat resistance are also outstanding. The corrosion protection life can be as long as 20-25 years under normal environment. In recent years, fluororesins copolymerized with trichloroethylene and vinyl ester monomers have been widely used in China and are widely used in building facades and metal panels. Due to the use of easily hydrolyzed vinyl ester monomer, the fluorine content is about 30% lower than PVDF, and there is a certain gap between its weather resistance and PVDF.
Sixth, acrylic resin has good comprehensive performance, high price, only used in specific areas (such as containers).
